Hello hello!! Taking this busy “maycember” to do a quick recap of what I have been up to since I launched myself as a local author & to give a welcome to my new subscribers. I am happy you are here! I plan to post book reviews this summer & already have a couple of feature books in mind!
Mommy+Me Fair
This was a fun event in perfect spring weather. It allowed me to meet some of you face to face & connect on being parents trying to raise bilingual/multicultural children.
Manvel Library Spanish Story Time
What a fun event! It had been… 8 years since I got to perform a story time & it definitely felt different to do it from a local author role! It was nice to do teach the CHO-CO-LA-TE palm game & co-read Angela Dominguez’ Tengo Hambre bilingual book with Ms. Erin. We gave out 27 copies of ¡Papas y papas! to attendees on this día de los niños day, all autographed! Thank you to the Manvel Friends for sponsoring this Children’s Day/Book day special story time & gift! It is encouraging to meet local parents who are eager for Spanish-language resources to raise bilingual children! I am happy I can contribute to early Spanish literacy!
Circulating Copies of ¡Papas y papas!
I wanted to celebrate the fact that my little board book is now circulating at two public library systems, Brazoria County Libraries, and Pasadena Public Libraries. As a children’s librarian this is the biggest accomplishment of all! As an author, it feels great to be CATALOGUED at libraries! I took pictures with some of the library staff at BCLS that I know & has been supportive in my grad school & author journey.
I need to do an appreciative post on the Pasadena Public Library, but know that they have a carefully curated and superb collection of Spanish books. The branches are truly cultural centers that are feeding & growing the knowledge of Spanish speakers young & old!
Fort Bend County Libraries also accepted my book, however they do not catalog their board books. It may also take a while for ¡Papas y papas! to reach their Spanish collection shelves since they are having issues with their computer systems right now. However, here is proof that I dropped 15 copies off with the Sienna Branch’s children’s manager!

Grate-full! /Agradecida
Aside from the public libraries, two elementary schools have added my board book to their school libraries & one preschool library. Thank you for supporting my work. Launching myself as a local author has been a whirlwind, exhausting, at times discouraging experience, but I hope this is only the beginning of my journey in this role.
If you would like to purchase a/more copies of ¡Papas y papas! visit my order form, or you can pay via credit card & order directly from independent Dreamers Bookstore.
